Satellite Positioning System

This course is designed blended learning to introduce students about the fundamental principles of satellite positioning systems and their application

Enrollment in this course is by invitation only

This course is designed for blended learning to introduce students to the fundamental principles of satellite positioning systems and its application in geodesy, factors affecting distance measurements with satellites, and code and phase measurements. The course also includes geodetic reference systems and three-dimensional transformations.

The students will also be briefed on how raw data can be uploaded to a PC and downloaded from Receivers. In detail the following topics will be covered,  Satellite signals and factors affecting distance measurement with GPS, code and phase measurements, errors in GPS measurement, single-point positioning and differential GPS, static and kinematic measurements, processing of GPS field data, applications of GPS in topographic and cadastral surveying, and geodetic reference systems related to GPS surveys.
