In this 3-week introductory lecture course, we will guide you through an exploration of the scientific evidence and application for poultry disease control and preventions.  

Lectures: Definitions, causes, distribution, transmission, pathogenesis, clinical signs, post-mortem examination, diagnosis, treatment, control and prevention of major infectious diseases (parasitic, bacterial, viral, fungal) and nutritional disorders of poultry prevalent in the tropics particularly in Ethiopia. Emerging, re-emerging and zoonotic poultry diseases are descried.

Practical: It includes activities like demonstration of poultry necropsy techniques, examination of dead or moribund poultry, collection, preservation, labeling and dispatching of morbid poultry materials and visit to poultry farms, investigation of outbreaks and report writing on the basis of clinical examination results using simulations and pictures from archives.
