The two part course "Structural Optimization - Part I & Part II" deals with the formulating and solving optimization problems in structural analysis and/or structural design. The course teaches the different classes of optimization and the techniques for solving structural optimization problems. Part I of the course focuses on problem formulation as well as solution methods to Linear Programming Problems (LPPs). This course is prerequisite to the second part "Structural Optimization - Part II (SO2)" which exclusively focuses on non-linear programming as well as heuristic algorithm techniques.
